I have one more question. The shoes I'm looking for are the Saucony Progrid Guide. But a friend of mine said the 6s are very different from the 5s. If you wear these, what do you prefer and why?

go on the saucony website and they have a shoe advisor tab that helps you deterime the right shoe for your stride based on where you impact (heal or mid foot) arch height and pronation.
i was wearing the progrid 5 and loved them - but when i went to order another pair i used the shoe advisor and picked a different shoe that was recommened for me and man am i glad i did, the new shoes are so much better for me.
i am not a huge runner- just getting into it, and used to think a shoe is a shoe.0 -
I have the guide 6's and tried on the 5's....in my opinion, they are very different. I don't know if I could put a finger on the reason why I liked the 6's better, but I did.0
