Fatigue. Clueless...

So I've been having some problems with energy lately. I've been feeling tired both physically and mentally. I'm on a 700 calorie deficit, with a maintenance day every week. I eat nutritional food, and shouldn't have any deficiencies. I sleep between 7-9 hours each night, though I do wake up to pee 2+ times each night. I have little energy at work, and way of exercising.

Any ideas? What I'm I doing wrong? Is it a multitude of things, perhaps? There are stressful aspects of my life, and it has been a longand hard winter... Not sure what to do. Thanks for ANY feedback.

I get like that waiting for spring to break some years. This year it seems like winter will just not end and I think it really affects our Vitamin D levels when every single day is overcast and dark, and too cold to show any skin. I supplement with a large dose of Vit D, but I'm not very good about taking it and I can't say I've noticed any amazing differences. I can cope with a little winter blues, but one year I could barely get out of bed. I would lay there pinching and slapping myself, trying to wake up. It scared me a bit. I haven't had it that bad since.

    maybe add some cals?
    What are your macros?
  • A 700 calorie deficit is quite harsh in my opinion. I'm more about the slow and steady approach. It may take me much longer to lose weight but I won't feel shi**ty whilst I do it. The longer I keep cracking away at changing my eating habits the more they become part of the new me as well. I can't see this as short term, quick fix as it won't work for me that way. I personally like to eat at 15-20% less than my TDEE for fat loss. Your deficit could be causing your tiredness, it might not be though, it could be any number of things. It's so hard to say over the net....

right now i am the same way -- lack of sunshine is really killing my energy right now. April snow just makes me want to stay in bed all day (and i am one that loves winter, but it is time for it to be done)

if it is a winter blues/ spring fever type of issue some people swear that vitamin D supplements help. for me they help a little.

    destressing will help,

if it is an ongoing issue you may want to talk to your doctor and make sure it is not something like hypothyroidism or other medical condition causing the low energy

Your diary is not open so....

What number are you subtracting 700 from? Are you eating back exercise calories?

Why not calculate your TDEE and then subtract 20% from that number and set that as a calorie goal? Oftentimes when we take a flat number away from the calories to make a deficit, we end up severely undereating. With 700 off the top, this might be the case for you.

I don't eat back the calories. I have an estimated maintenance of around 2500 calories, and I average around 1,6-to 1,9.i realise I might be too low, but it has been working fine even with 4-5 workouts a week.

It's not working if you're tired all the time. If you open your diary, people can give more targeted advice, but I suspect that eating back your exercise calories would help. Maybe try it for a week and see if that makes you feel better?

It has been working quite well, until recently. I've had energy issues before, but upping calories I alignment with training solved that. I just don't feel quite comfortable changing my eating habits, but I guess I might have to. I just don't see how too few of calories keep me feeling this fatigued, since I've haven't worked out since Monday. My macros are generally 55 carbs, 25-30 protein, and 20 fats. Protein tend to get a bit high since I overcompensate eating more ethically.

Have you been drinking enough water and making sure that you're hydrated enough? Bit of a long shot, but if I only have 4-6 glasses of water a day, I feel much worse than if I'm drinking 8-10 :)
