Re: junk: sure, just watch your portion size.
Re: drink too much: yes, as long as you don't eat that day, which is a bad idea for your health, but whatever, it's your body.
Read this--at the end, he makes some suggestions for how to drink happily without gaining weight.

I definitely miss the days of just eating and drinking what I want without realizing how bad it all was. But now that I know what I know and have made the changes I've made, I could never go back to that. I miss it sometimes, but prefer who I am now. So I feel you but the answer is basically no, you can't go back there unless you want to end up like that again.0

Honestly. No you will not be able to eat and drink to much and eat junk again "with reckless abandon" unless you don't want to achieve and maintain your goals. Building muscles will help but will not allow for eating toooo much and junk food. Unfortunately aging impacts the metabolism, but according to you, you were always a little more overweight than you thought. The only thing that has changed IS YOUR DESIRE TO BE DIFFERENT. You can't be different, set new goals and remain the same. With that being said, there is always room for a muffalatta and drinks (when you decide when) ! :drinker:0

To the OP:
Now that you know better, my question to you is "why would you want to put garbage in your mouth when you know the results it brings?"0 -
Well Downey....everything has a price. Such is life.0

Probably not. I've been through the whole change my habits and lose weight thing 4 times now, and once I slip back into old habits, all is lost. I'd always tell myself "just this one night," or "just while I'm on vacation", but even one day off my routine makes it really hard to get back into healthy habits, and before I know it, the weight I lost is back. Each time I regain the weight, it's harder to lose.0

Um not unless you want to do what i did go from 220 to 125 get happy i lost weight then say F-it and gain back up to 180 and have to start all over0

You won't always have to be as strict as you are now, because right now you're trying to lose weight and in the future you'll be maintaining. That means you can indulge a little more an exercise a little less. However, you can't go back to your old lifestyle and expect to stay in shape. I'm a college kid and trust me I want to get drunk every night and eat pizza for 90% of my meals (like several of my friends do). But that's how I gained weight in the first place and it's not worth it. I still go out drinking occasionally, I still eat pizza, but it's all in moderation. Not quite as much fun, but I'm happy with myself and with this lifestyle.0

Not with complete reckless abandon, but now that I've hit my main goal (5-10 lbs from ripped), I drink several times a week with no noticeable weight gain. I just log what I eat and drink, and if I have a day where I hit 3500-4000 calories, no big deal. I just go back to normal maintenance calories the next day, maybe have a lower calorie day or exercise heavily and I can counteract 8-12 oz of liquor pretty easily. Once you hit your goal wight, just keep an eye on what you are putting into your body, stay active, and watch the scale to see what things may cause your body to start storing fat again and avoid or minimize them.
tl;dr; I am at maintenance and booze it up a couple times a week and stay in shape still.0 -
Now obviously I'm no pro or I wouldn't have a weight loss ticker, but I think that enjoying a meal without counting calories will happen one day without worry or weight gain IF maintaining a healthy caloric intake is followed the majority of the time. The 80:20 rule. Eat healthy 80% of the time so that you can enjoy the other 20% after goal is achieved. Of course, easier said than done right!0

Last time I got thoroughly drunk I threw up everything before bed anyway, so probably ended up under TDEE
Most of the time since then, I've been trying to get pregnant, and now I'm pregnant, so the next time I get thoroughly sloshed won't be for another 4 years or so, when I finally feel that it wouldn't be too irresponsible of me as a mother to be unable to respond immediately to my child.
So, to me, whether you get totally rat-arsed should depend mainly on your responsibilities more than your weight. You can always lose any weight gained, but some irresponsible, drunk decisions are irreversible.0 -
