Easy C2 5K

Hey guys....anybody know of a C2 5k that's a little easier going? I cannot run, but I really want to try and think I just need a little longer to ease into it. Any ideas?

Build up your walking base first. A good rule of thumb is to be able to walk briskly for 30 minutes at a time before trying running. If you can do that, and it's still an issue, just add a few weeks to the beginning changing the intervals. Make the running interval shorter and the walking one longer than C25K starts, eventually getting to the c25K starting point.

You can always modify the pace to your needs. IE: walk an interval at 2mph then the higher interval at a 3mph walk. Don't force yourself to jog/run if you're not able to just yet.

I'm doing the c25k program verrrrrry slowly, basically I do one or 2 of the workouts on the program a week and then I do 1 or 2 other runs on my own that are similar to what I do in the guided program or slightly easier. You can also repeat workouts or weeks if you need to, everyone told me to just go at my own pace. So it's taking me a looooooooong time to get through it. I'm on "week 5" of the program but I've been working through it since November, so yeah. I need a lot longer to ease into it than the program is written out but I'm improving slowly but surely and loving the reduced weight and reduced stress!

I did 3 months of just walking (increasing my speed over that 3 month period) before I started doing the C25K. That seemed to help a lot. Good luck! It's a great program and you can always modify it to go even slower than doing it all in a 12-week session.

You're supposed to go at your own pace on c25k. If you have to repeat some days until you are ready to move on to the next, that is pefectly acceptable.

I can't think of the resources off the top of my head, but a few of them start you out walking 15, 20 and the 25 minutes at a time over a period of 2-3 weeks. It's not rocket science.

However, if you can walk for 30 minutes at a time without having to sit down and take a break, you'll be able to complete the 9-12 weeks of a C25k program.

I found the first day of C25k to be challenging but stuck with the program and graduated in February.
