Cleaning as "Exercise"

So, for those who log cleaning as exercise, here's a little wake-up call. I just wore my HRM around for 45 minutes while I picked up toys, swept, and mopped and guess what? I only burned 80 calories...40 if you deduct my maintenance cals. Sure, it might earn you that 1/2 of a cookie, but...
Cleaning is NOT a workout. Sorry, guys!

I would say it depends on what kind of cleaning you're doing. Hardcore cleaning, like scrubbing your kitchen on your hands and knees (as opposed to mopping) is different from the regular, everyday cleaning. While I agree you probably can wash some dishes and then eat some ho-hos, I'm not writing it off, either. Housework 50 years ago was way harder than it is now. If you use machines for everything, you aren't really exercising. If you do it more old-school, you might get a decent burn.0
