what works best?

hi ... first post .. and im just getting going .. and i want to know . If i want to slim down in a timely manner should i focus mostly on cardio? or do i need to do a big mix? i know i need to challenge myself so that my body keeps going but i want to slim then tone .. any advice is much appreciated!!!

    I think general advice is to do both. Either alternate days cardio and strength training or try something like Jillian Michaels Body Revolution programme.

    I think what would work best for you is to experiment until you find something you can STICK WITH FOR LIFE.

    Try different workouts: Insanity, Jillian, Crossfit, Running, Gym and Lifting, Gym and programs they run.

    The point is to find something that you can burn some calories (this is by keeping an moderate-intense level, calculated by HR) and tone up (lift heavy whether it is functional training, free-weights, machine weights), no matter what-- find something that works for you.

    Good point. I have tried loads of DVDs etc until I decided what I enjoy. For me its running and Chalean E xtreme ( dumbell workout).
