Yep, I'm aware no type of take away food is going to be good for me at all! But we are getting a chinese take away for dinner tonight and I was just curious as to what people have found the best or most low cal meals are?
I personally usually have beef chow mein with some sweet & sour pork balls. Yummy!!
I don't really want any rice dishes, I eat enough of that day to day anyway! Or at least a meal that is not too rice heavy.
What do you eat for your one off meals like take aways?
Oh and I have tried there vegetable dishes before but from the place we are going too, I find the vegetable dishes to be quite bland! So that's a kind of no aswell.

Generally, if I'm getting Chinese and I don't want to think 'what the hell', I'll order something like prawns that aren't battered or in a heavy, sticky sauce. Prawns with ginger and spring onion, for example, is a great one. If you're not a prawny person, a chicken or pork dish would be awesome.0

I love prawns but, find from take aways they can be sometimes quite rubbery in texture which makes me wanna heave, rank! Love pork loads so may have to take a look at the pork dishes too!0

Vegetable spring rolls. I buy frozen spring rolls from the grocery store sometimes and they're only 200 calories for 3 spring rolls. If I eat take out I usually just round them up to 100 calories each. I'm usually full off of two or three of them.0

I always go for a steamed or sauteed vegetable dish (in very light oil) with a chicken broth based sauce instead of a heavy sodium filled dark sauce.
I normally order what's called the Four Season Vegetables, cooked with broccoli, onion, bell pepper, baby corn, bamboo shoot, water chestnut & carrot sauteed with chef's special sauce. total calories - 215. I stay away from the sodium filled meats and heavy noodles.
Here is a great breakdown from the web: http://www.caloriescount.com/chinese.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=10 -
my "go-to" is egg drop soup and chicken wings. So good! :bigsmile:0

Get a soup starter. Avoid sticky sauces. I normally have chow mein too. But to be honest if I have one I normally it's with friends and we share so i just think meh, and try to watch my portion.
I made chicken noodle soup today and a homemade chow mein and a chicken madraas the other week and they were beaut. I'm making pizza tonight too as I can control the oil/ cheese etc. I actually prefer making my own now as they taste better (not to blow my own trumpet ha) it's just having the time, plus some chinese places don't use the best quality meat sometimes xx0
