Who knew a "mere" 12 lbs could do this...

I started this journey late January and have worked with a personal trainer about twice each month, as well as changed my diet.
Although I've lost "only" 12 pounds, my clothes are fitting so much better. In fact, I've been able to wear blouses I haven't worn in two years. Not only that, I've had this beautiful blouse hanging in my closet (still with the tags) for the past 2.5 years. I loved it so much back in late 2010, I had to buy it and, of course, planned to "lose into it". I wore it to work on Thursday!

Go me!

:flowerforyou: Well done! Bet you felt good in the new blouse. 12 lbs is actually quite a lot so you should feel pleased with your progress.

That a great feeling, isn't it? I am willing to bet your trainer has you doing some type of lifting am I right? I was always afraid of weights because I did not want to "bulk up" and I felt like I was not accomplishing anything because it was not getting my heart rate up but I was so wrong. I do weights just 3x a week and I am only up to like 8 lbs when I use the dumbbells but my body is getting tighter in some places there is no fat, which is totally not something I am used to happening so far. It is amazing what muscle can do to our body composition. My clothes are fitting better too even though overall I really haven't lost that much weight. Don't get me wrong I have a loooong way to go!! 70 more pounds to lose but I am so happy about how quickly adding the weights worked.

Yeah for you! It is amazing how much difference a "mere" 12 lbs., or even 5 or 10 can make. Of course, with your workouts you're doing double, not only losing the lbs. but tightening up and that definitely multiplies your results. So you're smart to go at it both with eating and exercise. (Don't "they" always tell us that...but so many times we don't listen!)

It's thrilling when something we bought to wear "in the future" shows us that we are actually arriving successfully. My inspiration is based more in the past. About 40 years in the past. I kept a pair of jeans from when I was first married (yep..bellbottoms). I don't want to wear them but would just like to be able to fit into them again for the heck of it. I can get them on but being able to zip them isn't there yet. Gotta work on that hip padding! But at one point I couldn't even get them on at all...so that's success already!

    Keep up the good effort.

    Thanks for the encouragement, Boroko.

Kimbers, yes I'm spending at least 50% of my time at the gym lifting. It's exciting to see the results. The trainer emphasizes using hand held weights/body weight rather than machines. Why I spent so much time with machines in the past, I'll never know. Much quicker results this way. Thanks for the encouragement.

Retiree, you might want to re-consider wearing those bell bottoms! I've seen a few pairs out and about in Manhattan lately. Keep up the good work.

That is fantastic, congratulations! I too started in January and with 13 pounds lost, my tops fit better and some pants were too big. It's a great feeling!
