So I figure warming up before exercizes is important, because it readys your body for a workout. But is the cooldown nesessary? I would figure I would want to keep my heart rate up basically as long as I could to keep burning calories. I've also heard that stretching after workouts is better that stretching before them.

I do a light warmup most days if I am doing a higher intensity workout. It usually consists of me getting my music playlist ready and than I'm good to go. I warm up for maybe 5 minutes if that.
For cooling down, I do slowly lower my intensity as I get close to the end of my workout just so my HR can slow down a bit. I also stretch when I am done my workout.
I have also heard about stretching being better after your workout or at least done after your warmup when your muscles are warm. Not sure what, if any truth there is to it.
Warming up and cooling down can help avoid injury so it's best to do it anyways.0
