Question For Intermittent Fasters

Have you ever experienced a racing heart after having your first meal after the fast.
I started doing 16/8 five days ago, though it often ends up being more like 17/7, and tonight I had a treat meal, not as in something ridiculously outlandish, just a feta and spinach pie, carrot, swede and potato mash, some peas and 100g of pecan and cranberry bread. Higher sodium than I am used to, and definitely higher in fat than I have had in sometime. I usually have a 700-800 calorie meal to break my fast, not experienced this until tonight. Tonight's meal was around 1300.
It has subsided now I moved about a bit to do the washing up and had another glass of water, but whew, sort of puts me off even having a not too unhealthy treat meal, to say the least!

I've never had a racing heart per se as a result of IF but in the early weeks of fasting after eating I have suffered from gastrointestinal distress, slight dizziness, and unexplained tiredness after eating. But as I tweaked my program those side effects disappeared, I imagine part due to my body adjusting and me figuring out works. How long have you been IFing?0

That's strange. I don't know if it's related to IF or if there's some other issue. I've been doing 20/4 with a few 72 hour fasts here and there since last summer and after the first week of adjusting I haven't had any other side effects. Try doing some reading on google though because I know IF can have screwy effects on women sometimes.0

My first question would be are you drinking enough water during your fasting period. Most IF plans recommend drinking plenty of water. Second is wow...that is a huge meal - maybe more than your system could handle.0

I also do a 17/7 protocol but I break my fast with a smaller meal. I usually do a 300-400 calorie meal, and find that I do get a bit tired and/or a bit lightheaded but it actually feels euphoric in a way. About 90-120 minutes later I have my lunch which is usually a few hundred calories more than my first meal.
I don't know if it would help you at all, but perhaps you can try breaking your fast with more of a 'snack' and then eat a larger meal later.0
