workout at home when you're not the only one home?

I have no idea why, but I feel really foolish going to workout in my house while my husband is home... He's laid off right now, so he's home ALL THE FREAKING TIME (yay! :|)

Am I mental that I would rather pay to go to a gym and workout with strangers, or make a fool of my chubby self going to a group class rather than taking 30 minutes in the comfort of my home to do a 30 day shred session.

Anyone else shy to work out in front of their significant other? Tips?

I don't have any advice for you, but I definitely understand. We have a very small house and there isn't a separate place to go to work out without either kids or my husband watching me. When I do work out (it's been a long time) I get up before everyone else to do it. I would love to go to a gym, but my kids are too young to be left alone.

I workout at home and I'm not too shy to....what irritates me is everyone keeps trying to talk to me and then my husband comes in from the kitchen where he's cooking, for me to taste the food, I mean WTF is he thinking when he does that?!?!

I am also not so confident doing workout in front of my SO...I think it is more embarrassing...especially working out to the crappy music they put in most at home work out dvds!! lol. (We are both metal heads...we have a standard to adhere to).

Anyway, find a cheap tv, cheap dvd player - hook it up in the basement, bedroom, garage - ANYWHERE!

I totally understand. I will do the elliptical when my husband is home, but I WILL NOT do 30DS. I feel like the entire house shakes when I do the jumping jacks, jumping rope and butt kicks!

Its only distracting to me because he's flirty. He used to say things like you're not going as far down as they do, she is stretching further than you, or whatever. Now he says things like "Do that naked" or when I said I was still chubby, "I got something chubby.". Sometimes he doesn't say anything, he just takes every opportunity that I am bent over to attack.

Honestly, I used to make sure he was never home when I did my workout, and would hate it when he would come in before I finished. Now I have the attitude that this is my time, if I am in your way, its your problem not mine. It makes a big difference in how effective your workout routine is.

Like me I workout at home too but I try & get it done before they are up around 6am but sometimes I wake up late but I dont want to start my day without it so I get caught half way through the workout & YES it annoys me when my husband is like talking to me while Im trying to gasp for air & expect me to answer him straight away or ask me wheres his work socks or him & ou kids put in their 2cent about my position compared to the Jillian Michaels arrrgghhh

I would say workout in your bedroom if you can and lock the door. Make it your private time. I use to do that to my mom. Hahaha, I sometimes don't like to workout at home with my friends because they want to talk and say I can't that, I won't do that, I'mma sit this one out, or they want to talk about the people in the videos. It's frustrating when your trying to give your best and people are interrupting. If I could workout in my room I would but I can't. I'm always trying to get into the living room before everyone else so I can get my workouts in. Do what cha gotta do. Best of luck to ya.
