This is why you are my friend
I am just too scared to have my temple cut up. Anywhere else is ok0 -
they may have other options. just go to just check out ur options. no one's gna be ready to take action on the first day. once you find out what they want to do to you and when you can start avoiding that day on the calendar and looking at alternative medicine options online. or just go depending on what their plan is.0

Putting it off just means more opportunity for it to spread, if it is actually skin cancer. Early detection and treatment should be what you strive for.0 -
Get it checked. The quicker you act, the less invasive the treatment options. The longer you wait, the more time you've wasted worrying about something that might not be cancer....0

Look at the bright side...it could just be a gross mole! Now, go see a Dr! *smacks you on the forehead.* Either way, you'll probably have a cool scar to show for it!0

Yeah, this is all good advice here. Go have it checked. They have chemotherapy creams now that cause it to crumble away and there is a hole and exposed without skin there, but then it heals and the skin grows back and you can't even tell. This only works if you catch it early enough.0
-
I appreciate the advice. Thanks. It's not coloured though like a mole it's skin coloured but has a little scab that keep coming off and not never wants to get better properly.
We live in the skin cancer centre of the universe I hear, North Queensland. I've had other moles cut off and they were nothing dangerous I later found out but this is odd. I'll force myself to book into the doc tomorrow. Might do some googling too.0 -
My wife once had a lump her obgyn insisted was just a milk cyst. A couple months later she had horrendous back pain because the tumour spread to her spine. She's ok now, but time is your enemy if you think that's actually a tumour.0

Having just lived through one of the worst years of my life (my partner had stage 4 throat/mouth cancer) I will tell you - GO TO THE DOCTOR. There is so much that can be done with early detection.
Good Luck0 -
I know how you feel. I had a spot on my nose and my thoughts were they would do a massive amount of cutting but it turned out to be something easily treatable. I have had other places cut off and had to go back to have more taken so they make sure they get it all but everything turned out okay. Every mole I had that looked textbook bad was nothing.
I guess my point is I was very afraid to go but after I did I had such peace of mind knowing I had a my back (and front, top and bottom) on keeping on top of the weird moles.
Please, please go see a doctor. And let us know how it turns out too.:flowerforyou:0 -
I work at a cancer center. Go see a dermatologist. If it's something serious, the earlier you get it treated, the better outcome you'll have. If it's something benign, you can stop worrying about it.0

I had a family member in the same boat. Had a suspicious mole that he had a feeling was cancer and put off seeing a doctor. By the time he finally did see a doctor his entire body was filled with cancer including his brain...
The earlier cancer gets diagnosed the better your chances of fighting it are.0 -

I just want to add that the reason I know this is because my mother had this treatment (it's not just something I heard about, but a real treatment). But, this was for treating a mild skin cancer (also not a mole). She actually had the symptoms you are describing.0 -

That sounds like basal cell carcinoma - not serious at all, but it will keep growing. So get it taken care of!!!0 -

I've looked at some pictures and yes it does look like it could be a basal cell carcinoma. I wish I hadn't looked though  Booking in today. I promise!0 -
My Friend died of Cancer ! go get it checked !!!!!! .... my mum just got a load of tests for cancer recently got the all clear though !0

Its not as bad as you think. Ive been through it, and I was expecting it to be alot worse than it was. You'll be fine and please make the appt. I waited too long and if I could change anything I would have gone in right away.0

Hi just back to thank those who gave advice and for those that asked me to come back to say what happened well I got it checked to day and yes it's a skin cancer but it's small and it is a basal cell carcinoma which is the type to not spread to your lymph nodes and yes you can die from it but not when I've found it so soon. So thanks all!0

I'm so glad you got it checked out! Good luck to you.0

Better to have your temple biopsied than to lose your life.0 -

Lost my best friend to melanoma at age 31... boy, do I regret all the time we spent outside getting a savage tan when we were in high school.
Go to the doctor. Now.0 -

*thumbs up* I am glad you went.
I am currently living a nightmare as I watch my mom waste away from small cell lung cancer (yes, she smoked). Early detection is KEY with cancer. I hope your treatment goes well.0 -

I don't "think" I have it. I do have it. I saw the skin doctor today.
I live in the skin cancer capital of the world by the way. It's very common here.0 -
I saw something at the end of 1996 that did not look right and it was the first time I noticed it. Turned out it was malignant melanoma of a mole that I had my entire life. My doctor told me the fact that I did not wait or put it off meant that treatment was a lot easier AND that it probably saved my life.
Lesson learned...0 -
Just had 4 spots taken off of my fair white girl face about 5 days ago. Actually, all four spots look GREAT-- better than they have in quite a while!
Oh, and my dad died of a skin cancer on his fair white man bald head that metastacized in his brain.
Get your *kitten* to the doctor. And your face, too.0
