in need of new motivation

For three months I was on here a lot and pretty active. I had a goal of losing weight for my trip to florida the last week of march to see family. I lost 30 pounds before vacation. That trip has come and gone with being a bit disappointed while I was there. I was visiting my brothers who were the first to tell me I needed to lose weight but they didn't say a word to me about my weight loss. I promised I wouldn't let it discourage me because I knew I was looking great. However, since i've been back I have no motivation. I am still eating healthy, but having more bad snacks. I just cannot get myself to the gym. I think part of this is because I had such a good routine going before I left and being gone a week just threw me off. I haven't lost any more weight. I've been to the gym a few times in two weeks were as before I was going 3-5 days a week. I went once last week and twice the week before. Ugh, this is the funk I always get in that leads to my fitness failure. I'm sick of this cycle.

Sounds like you made it to goal #1 and are simply in need of a new one.0

First of all, I know this journey is really really hard. And I can relate to where you are right now.
BUT, only You can make yourself do it. Just get back on the darn horse and get moving. You did this before and you can do it again - and forever. Don't give up on yourself. Forgive your missteps and move forward; you will be SO proud of yourself for doing it. Sorry to sound like a Nike commercial, but: Just do it! :flowerforyou: You got this!0 -

exactly! my problem was that I never made mini goals, just kinda saw the big picture as the whole thing.

lol I say this to people all the time. I guess i'm feeling a little more do as i say not as i do right now ugh.0 -

I agree. Your second sentence says "I HAD a goal.." If you make a new one you will have something to work toward.
I also get the sense that you are disappointed that your brothers didn't mention your weight loss. You might have an underlying feeling of "what's the point" if no one noticed your loss like you hoped.
Oh, and congrats on your losses so far!0 -
I don't have brothers, but I do know that men don't notice things like weight loss or new hair styles. It's like they have a picture in their head of how you look and it never changes. My husband admits that to him I still look like the 19yo he married 27 years ago.
Think about summer coming up. Do you have any outfits that you didn't wear the past few seasons because they didn't fit? If not, go get one! Go for the cute dress that's a bit tight and hang it where you will see it every day. Wear it to the Memorial Day picnic and enjoy the compliments.
Reward yourself for every 5-10 pound loss. Check this thread for some great ideas. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/958220-for-every-5-lbs-i-lose
Your pictures are amazing!!! Look at them, post them on the fridge, keep it up!0 -
I have worked through the disappointment of my brothers not saying anything. I posted a thread on here when I was at my most angry about them and all the replies really helped me. I did finally call one of my brothers out on it and he replied with "yes, i'm a jerk, i noticed, good job". ugh wtf. oh well. anyway, that is the past.
no, i don't have any cute clothes that are smaller, i got rid of those a long time ago (and yuck dresses).
i just need to come up with a new goal. no idea what it will be. I don't get out much, all I do is work and taxi my son to his sporting events. I'm really just trying to think out loud. i'll check out that thread, sounds helpful. thanks everyone!0 -

After bringing up 3 daughters I STILL forget to mention obvious things like that to my sisters. It makes me feel like a selfish jerk when I realize I have done it later, but maybe it is a brother/sister thing.
I decided to pick the body I could happily live with from this picture: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/958076-body-fat-percent-visuals and track my Body Fat % as closely as my weight. Feels just as good to have converted 2lbs of fat into lean body mass as it does to lose 2 pound on the scales.
Plus you can add the 2 figures together and feel like you have made a huge loss some days!
Anyway, tracking BF% as well as weight might re-enthuse you to enjoy it again, and picking a new body based on BF% might be enough as a new goal?
Personally for the next time you visit family, I'd aim to send my brothers a couple of pics of me with that new body a month before and see how many of their friends turn up at the house for a visit whilst you are there as a gauge of success, instead of waiting for brother compliments. ;-)0
