Anyone seeing a Dietician?

Hi everyone, I am relatively new to the community forums and am appalled by the inappropriate advice that some people provide (eat, don't eat, starve and go to sleep hungry is ok, you should get more proteins with fat, don't eat bananas or carbs in the afternoon, smoking Marijuana reduces appetite, go work in McDonalds, etc)--

Those are just examples.. anyway, I know this is a free public form, and everyone is aware My Fitness Pal does not assume any responsibility for any advise provided in here.

Is anyone here seeing a nutritionist or a professional for guidance? Going to group meetings for support? What are your thoughts?

Well I did 14 years ago, and I lost a lot of weight, but he had a program, similar to a cleanse I guess, and really limiting what you can eat, then adding it back little by little. And of course life happened and it wasn't possible for me to follow it, so I gained it all back (and more).

I'm actually leery of dietitians for this reason. It seems to me that they all have a pretty strict diet they recommend to everyone... and yes, they probably work, but they don't teach you to eat 'normally'. Bottom line, I want to be able to find something to eat if I go out, without having to worry about a dish having a bit too many carbs or whatnot.
