Ladies - Hips & Thigh issues! :)

My MAJOR problem areas are my hips and thighs... I hold most of my excess weight here and am not seeing much come off in these areas while I do in other areas.

What are your favorite exercises for these areas?

Also, any advice on that stubborn "cottage cheese" that we all love so much? I fear it will never go away! :/

weights- heavy ones, for the cottage cheese! squats, lunges and deadlifts have done the most for me by a long shot!

Brazil Butt Lift dvds helped me shape my rear end, but ultimatley only a calorie deficit and strict attention to my diet allowed me to shed a few inches from my extreme pear (im talking 36-28-42 :)

I've heard different things actually. I have the same problem as you - but from what I've learned, it's been said that
CARDIO is what helps shed the fat.
WEIGHTS (especially strength training) gives you more of a toned body - it does get rid of the fat too, but it replaces it with some stone hard muscles. :)

It's also useless if you don't cut down on your diet too - just eat 500cal less everyday and you'll be seeing a 1 pound deficit each week. As this continues and you build up your body with 5 days of some type of exercise, you're going to be seeing progress. It's almost impossible not to.

    Good luck!

I wish I knew the answer to that! I bought Jillian Michaels Killer Buns and Thighs and Jillian Michaels Kickbox Fast Fix and I hope these will target those areas so I can start shedding those pounds!

Don't get me wrong I love losing any weight but I need to target certain areas lol!

^ This. I also took up running, which helped some. I am still a pear, just a smaller one now. Honestly, a calorie deficit is probably the biggest part - the weight just needs to come off from that spot. I feel your pain, I always feel like its the last place I lose weight and the first place I put it on. :grumble:

    Thanks, all!

I just bought one of JM's shred DVD's and am looking forward to that, so I'll keep an eye out for her more targeted ones, too!

And YES... ALWAYS the last place to go and the first place to re-appear! The nerve! :)

Cellulite will never actually go away. It's made up of the fibrous septa which make the dimples, and the fat that we accumulate makes the bumps. The only thing you can really do is plenty of fat burning, and weights. Lunges, squats etc.. maybe you could get a video or a book with lower body only and do it several days a week. I like "Tank top arms, bikini belly and boy shorts bottom" by Minna Lessig. It has a ton of very good exercises for all levels of ability. It's nice to be able make a work out to do just what I need. I mix my work outs up a lot and this is a good variation. Also, have you ever considered intermittent fasting to help get rid of more fat? It may be for you, maybe it wont. Just a suggestion for something to try.
