Very Low RMR:

So... I just had my RMR tested via oxygen exchange. It came back at 663 the first time and 677 the second time, because they thought for SURE there was some mistake.

I am 5'5, and 152 lbs, and 35 years old. The estimated RMR is between 1252 and 1600 for someone of my size and body fat percentage 27.7.

According to my fitbit, I walk about 5 miles a day and I work out with heavy lifting about 3 days per week. I am NOT a yoyo dieter, though my appetite doesn't always work properly. My RMR should NOT be that low. How can I fix my metabolism?

I'm sorry. That sucks. I don't know about "fixing" a metabolism. But now that you have that information, you may want to see a RD/nutritionist to make a new plan.

I have little to no experience with a slow metabolism, but from what I've been reading, maybe you need to do a reset by eating at your TDEE for 8 weeks or so?

You should check out the Roadmap group for more info, there's a ton of knowledgeable people in there!!

Thanks. I should probably also say that my thyroid is corrected with levothyroxine at 150 mcg/day. My last TSH was .3 (normal) and only two weeks ago.

Look for metabolism reset in the EM2WL threads or see your doctor. Where did you have it tested? Do you have health issues that could make you burn half as much as you should?

Definitely see your doctor. Strangers on the internet won't be able to help that much.

Which hormones? My thyroid is already "corrected" with thyroid hormone supplement daily. I'm trying to figure out what to ask about.
