Question re calorie consumption & exercise for Sidesteel or the other resident experts...
I have a BMR of 1745 based on the Katch-McArdle model, and a TDEE of 2094 (sedentary / desk job). I'm using a conservative 15% deficit (1 pound a week) eating to a calorie goal of approximately 1780. I am also working out - 6 days x 45 mins of cardio and 4 days x 60 mins of strength training (resting days in between). I'm being careful about what I eat, ensuring I'm getting the daily/weekly macronutrients I need.
I'm feeling great, I loads of energy, and the weight is coming off easily (overwhelmingly fat versus LBM). Currently, I am not eating the calories I burn off with exercise (i.e. I only eat a maximum of 1780 calories a day, regardless of exercise). Since the weight is coming off so easily, I'm guessing the exercise is simply creating a bigger calorie deficit accelerating my progress.
My question is, am I safe from any starvation adaptation (because I am consuming my 1700+ calories a day) or do I have to be concerned if my exercise takes my net calories to below 1200 (e.g. If I exercise more than 550 calories in a day)?
Appreciate any insights or advice you may have.
