Is it chemistry?
So I was wondering about something...is there chemistry involved to being attracted to your spouse? I just got to thinking about it today. My friends husband came into a church social thing smelling of car ick. you know working on a car and having grease and what not...smelled a bit like gas...well I could care less about appearance not about to complain about that.... when my hubby is sweating and covered in grease from a car he smells uber sexy and manly to me. My friends hubby made me want to puke the way he smelled. Why is that? I'm simply curious....is it chemistry or is it because I think my hubby is super uber sexy....just wondering about the science end of it. People has always thought the way I am with smells is odd. Do any of you think your spouse smells absolutely wonderful?

Ah...I thought so...I have always been sensitive with smells...I actually broke up with someone because his smell just utterly offended me. I have memories triggered with certain smells...
I have always been the type that if I didn't like a dude's smell there would be no relationship. I have always felt shallow about it.0 -
I think there is some science to back this up. My mother once commented to me that she thinks my dad "never smells bad." Which I thought was hilarious because I've been around the guy after he mows the lawn and he can most definitely get ripe. But then, he's my father. Nature engineers us to find the smells of our own family off-putting. I can tell when any of my brothers has been in a room. Not necessarily a bad smell, just one I find unappealing because we're related. I think it would be the same for anyone else whose chemistry isn't a good match for yours. You know...0

This is so funny! My mother has said the same exact thing about my father! He smells stinky to me after he exercises, so I would have to say that they must have that complimentary body odor thing going on! In my own experience, I have dated someone that smelled so good to me that I was nearly intoxicated by his "smell." I attributed it to the fact that I was absolutely smitten with him. Needless to say, that relationship ended, and now I'm with someone who comments on my "smell" on a daily basis. It has been three years, so I'd say that body odor and attractiveness most definitely go hand in hand! If he smells good to you, he's a catch (in most cases, but not all).0 -

There are also documentaries on Netflix about this that are fairly interesting (I'm a bit of a documentary addict)0 -

To delve even further into this, even thought and emotion is a chemical reaction in the body. Chemicals from the outside (drugs and alcohol) can obviously influence thought process because it interferes with the natural chemical process for thought and emotion.

I agree with all of these comments.
I fancied a guy who had the best smelling cologne and I found it very sexy.
Then I smelled the same cologne on my own father.....ick.
ETA: It didn't help that the guy I fancied was 20 years older at the time (I was 24).0 -
I just remembered something funny. I could not stand the smell of my ex when he was sweating. Like, it made me want to vomit. He was telling me the other day that his new girlfriend loves the smell of his sweat. Interesting, eh?0
