I feel like I should be grpwing my own sprouts for sandwiches and salad... does anyone do this? I'm thinking like the curly ones... will chia grow like that? is there some controversy around alfalfa... what else grows like that and where do I get seeds?
any other tips? I was going to grow them in a large bowl - like an ornamental fish bowl, to keep my cats out

I grow sprouts in a glass jar on my kitchen counter. I buy the seeds in a package at the health store. Sprouts are one of the healthiest foods because they are still alive when you eat them- veggies at the grocery store are still healthy, of course, but they have been picked days or weeks ago so have lost enzymes.
I also like them because they are a local food that I can make for myself in the winter when there is no local greens.
I just put a little salad dressing on them and eat a bowl full.
