Low Fat Food Suggestions - High Triglyceride Levels

My doc keeps telling me to eat Low Fat foods because my Triglyceride level is high (194). But every time I try to find low fat foods, they are high in calories and I'm trying to watch what I eat because: 1) I have breast cancer and 2) I need to lose about 30lbs.

Can anyone help give me pointers or suggestions? I'm spinning my head with all the internet surfing. Sometimes it could be your own worse enemy. :)

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Mary

You need some fat....ask your doctor for a referral to a Dietician. Your needs are different than normal people and you should get professional advice.

With that said, just use the default settings here and stay within the range for fats and protein. I think the default weight-loss setting is 15% from fats. You really don't want to go lower than that without your doctor's stamp of approval. Get specifics from him/her.

In January, my total cholesterol was 196 and triglycerides were 300. Last Monday, I had labs again and total cholesterol had dropped to 177 and my triglycerides were down to 166. Other than continuing to take my prescribed pravastatin, I started eating a healthier, 1800 calorie/day diet and started a moderate exercise program. My macros are 40/30/30, but I don't really watch those numbers.

You can check my open diary to see what my diet consists of. I have lost 19lbs and lowered my cholesterol primarily through diet changes and increased exercise.

I have found that fish oil and oil of primrose have significantly reduced my triglicerides.
