Anybody have a HRM that you enter your RHR?

I have the garmin fr70 and it just bases my calories burned on my heart rate. I'm looking to upgrade to a model that allows me to input my RHR which is now just 45-46 and try and get a more realistic calorie count. I also like GPS features.

I walked at a decent pace last week for nearly 4 hours and got 180 calories....I was pushing my baby in a buggy against strong wind and the return journey was with the basket full of groceries and my back pack loaded with heavy items. My average heart rate was 79!

I realise nothing will truly be accurate but just wanting to get as close as possible.

Thanks :)

Look at the Polar FT60. You can input both your RHR and MHR, it will assess your fitness level and adjust calories burned accordingly and it has an accessory GPS unit that you can purchase separately. I got one from heartratemonitorsusa.com which has all the various brands at very competitive prices

Nothing is truly accurate because while HRMs measure your heart rate they only estimate the calories burned based on formulas most accurate for steady state cardio that vary greatly from individual to individual.

Personally I dont use a GPS. I use a website/app called Gmap-pedometer.com. You plot your route on a map and it will give you the distance covered down to a few feet. You can also enter your weight and get a colories burned estimate and it will also track your changes in elevation so you can see the hills you ran aup and down

Thanks so much for that! I have been looking at the Polar brand.

I need to find out what my max heart rate is. My hrm has been a great tool for training. I like trying to push myself to go further and faster which has really brought my heart rate down and I can't adjust my watch with it.
