running zig-zagged distance- will it help with plateau?

Hi, I'm learning to run and I am doing both HIIT and endurance (5km) at the moment. I also weight train twice/week.

My weight loss has slowed- if I upped/lowered the distance , would this have a similar effect to changing routine ie incorporating an aerobics session? TIA
