Calories burned??

does anyone know how many burned calories I should put down? The machine says 850 after an hour with my weight and age entered, but MFP says 1143! I always subtract about 300 from the machine (Elliptical) because I was told machines always give too high of number. I'm confused and want to find out what I'm burning.... any help would be nice
Thanks!
Thanks!

Order of reliability/accuracy (highest -> lowest):
Heart Rate Monitor -> Machine -> MFP
HRMs are the most accurate because they take height/weight/age/sex into account and take constant readings on your HR; machines because they can take periodic readings of HR, though not greatly accurate is better than nothing; MFP because it's only a formula and there's way too many variables that makes it different for every person.
So stay with the machine if you don't have a HRM and only eat 60-80% of the workout calories because the machines will still tend to run high compared to a HRM.0 -
Thanks for the help... I've seen a lot of people using a HRM I think I'm going to invest in one.0
