Staying on track!

Hey guys,
I'm posting this is search for some encouragement and advice.I have the hardest time staying on track with my diet. When I found out about MyFitnessPal I thought it was a great program and started right away. I completed my daily track diary for a whole month. Then I got so tired of eating healthy and being hungry all the time. I am only allowed to consume 1200 calories a day. I would get so irritated because by lunch time I would only have like 600 calories left to eat and I had barely eaten anything. Then I would get even more discouraged because I found myself running 3-4 miles everyday just so that I could eat more for dinner. Needless to say that got old fast. So for the past two weeks I have been back to my old ways and basically eating whatever I want. I'm scared to even get on the scale because the whole 5lbs I worked so hard for is probably right back. I'm going crazy thinking about how close summer and bathing suit season is getting EEKKK!

I know exactly how you feel. I'm at the 1200 calorie mark too...

    What is your BMR?

Hate to say this, but either you're going to do it, or you're not going to do it. It really is up to you. If you decide you want to eat poorly, not exercise, and be fat...that is up to you. If you decide that you want to look good this summer, you already know what you have to do. Nobody here has magic pixie dust that will make the hard work, determination, and discipline go away. I would suggest you either recalculate your goals (maybe go 1lb. per week) and come up with a liveable plan, or read "in place of a roadmap" and go the TDEE route. You will not lose any weight complaining...I tried, doesn't work.

I agree with you that you sometimes have to just do it, but cutting down to 1200 calories a day cold turkey is difficult for some people. Alot of people actually. She's looking for support, not a lecture....

That being said, you should try cutting back slowly based on your BMR. Try cutting back 100 calories for a week. Then 200....then 300...and slowly work your way up. The same goes for exercise. Start slow, and don't burn yourself out...give yourself some time to rest, and make sure you acknowledge the work you. It will take time, sure, but that time will pass anyway, and a 1-2 months from now you'll be glad you did it. You can even add me for support!
