Chair at work makes me achey and stiff

I didn't know where to put this post, but here goes.

When I sit for an extended period of time (30mins or more) at my desk, when I get up and walk down the hall, I'm all achey and stiff. Before I came to MFP, I attributed the discomfort to my overweight body, weak knees and joints and overall aging (I'm 50).

However, now that I been walking daily for little over a month, I don't experience the stiffness at any other time. Not at home at my personal computer, not walking, not sitting watching TV, not even at night (my ankle, knee and hip would sometimes throb/ache).

I have come to the conclusion that my desk arrangement is not ergonomic. I have consulted online workplace ergo sites for the proper alignment of keyboard, monitor, chair, etc and so far, no change in the discomfort. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks

I know it is hard to do, but try getting up more often - every 20 min if you have to, even if it is just standing up for a sec.

Alternatively, you could try the 'go big or go home' solution of an exercise ball or standing desk. I am going to try transitioning to a standing desk soon - we will see how it goes!
