Keeping active with injured knee

I recently injured my knee while working out too much and on the wrong sort of shoe. After trying to push through it, my knee just ended up hurting worse. Since then, I've completely halted all forms of exercise but am still finding myself hurting by the end of the day from general walking around the office and driving into work.
Unfortunately, I just can't stop going about my busy day so I'm just trying to slow down and walk gingerly when I do walk.
My problem is this... I'm losing my mind. I NEED to be active and not feel like I'm letting myself drop into a sedentary habit. Friends have suggested swimming, cycling and weight work but I would love to hear more suggestions?
What's a good cardio exercise that is easy on the knee?
What's a good leg work out that's easy on the knee?
And what is your favorite arm/core work out?
