Basal Metabolic Rate or BMR is basically a measure of how many calories your body needs simply to function. It is what your body would burn if you did nothing but lay in the bed all day.0

Your BMR is your metabolic rate. How many calories do you burn in a day. Your Resting BMR is essentially how many calories your body needs to just exist in resting state (in bed all day) You burn calories breathing and with all of your body systems. when you get up and move around you burn more. the rate MFP has for you as your BMR for the day is your Resting BMR and your activilty level added. I hope that makes sense.0
