Off to the gym - need some quick advice

Ok, so I have been going to the gym about 3-4x/wk to do C25K on the treadmill for 40min. I also walk my dog 2x/day for 25min. I will re-start SL5x5 next week. My question is as far as the cardio goes, is walking (3.5mph at 2% incline) more beneficial (as far as fat burning) than C25K at a slower pace?
I really enjoy the walking, and think once I lose more weight (I'm 214 now), the running and stride will come easier.
What do y'all think?

Walking is just as good as running for the stage you are at right now - you might need to walk a bit longer, but if you are enjoying yourself, just keep doing it.0

I just walked 40min at 3.7mph, 3.0-3.5 incline and burned 350 cals, about 100 more than I have been burning doing C25K. I think I will continue with the hi-intensity walks..0
