I have decided to become taller.

Last time I lost weight, I went from obese to merely a few pounds overweight. This time, one of my goals is to finally see myself in the "normal" category according to BMI charts. That means a BMI of 25 or less.

I've lost 10 pounds since January, and as of this morning now officially weigh 160 pounds. At 5'7", that puts me at...25.1 BMI.

But wait! While all my adult life, I've routinely put 5'7" down as my height, the last time I had a doctor's appointment where they measured me, they told me I was 5 foot 7 and a quarter inches. And a QUARTER, folks!*

Putting that in the BMI calculator gives me a BMI of 24.9. Now, I'll get that same 24.9 by losing just one more pound, but why wait? Let this serve as notice that as of today, I am claiming that additional quarter inch in height...and am therefore no longer overweight.

Thank you.

*It was probably a spectacular hair day.

Hurray! I love your precise calculation. I think I better get measured again. Although, I might have shrunk and I don't want to know that! Great post. Thanks.

I believe I see a new career stretching out in front of me...I could be an itinerant measurer, traveling around the world and measuring people with my special patented heightometer, which always comes out .25 to .33 of an inch taller than they thought they were.

I mean, where's the downside? Everybody gets to be a little taller--and I get to spread happiness. And get rich.
