Marathon advice

I've been on mfp for almost a month. I'm about to finish 30ds this weekend and I'm finally having my first successful attempt at losing some good weight and getting fit. Anyway, I really want to do a marathon but I'd like to walk it. Does anyone have experience walking a marathon? I found a training program to walk a marath8n online and it's a 20 week program. Is this a realistic training period? I'm looking at possible a November or early spring event so I'd be even farther along by the time I start the 20 weeks. Any advice on walker friendly marathons? I've read online the New York city marathon is walker friendly. I'm in south central PA so anything within a couple hours would be awesome. I s this a realistic goal? I'm pushing myself alot these days and I'm loving it. I have no problem working hard but I don't want to set myself up to fail.
