Runner's Unite in Remembrance #BostonMarathon

I got home not long ago from running my very first trail run! I've been running for almost a year, and have been getting serious about it for about four months. I am not super speedy (YET!) but I have fallen in love with running! I was devastated that some lunatic (or group of them) would target my second family (the running community) and the Boston Marathon terrorist attack weighed heavy on my heart. Tonight I competed in a very muddy, very snowy (we got 12" in the last 36 hours), very cold (25*) 5k run in remembrance and as tribute to anyone affected by the tragedy that took place yesterday. It was very emotional and many runners had their remembrance bibs on (including myself), we had a moment of silence at the beginning of the race and most (if not all) runners did the run silently (no technology) in remembrance. The reason why I post this under the "success stories" tab is because I will not live in fear, I will not let the evil of the world dictate my happiness. I will celebrate life and everything that I am able to do, especially with my continually improving health and fitness. I can run, so I do!

I absolutely agree! My sister and I grew up going to road races and were just shocked and outraged. The running community is one of the most positive, friendly and a-political groups around, and I can't believe that such a hateful act could be directed at such an amazing, global group of people.
