Gardening?
Not sure if this is the right section of the forum to post about this: but here goes. Who out there in MFP land gardens? What do you grow?
My husband and I are avid vegetable and fruit gardeners, when the seasons permit here in Idaho. We grow an abundance of tomatoes, tomatillos, peppers of different variety, squash, strawberries..etc. This year I'm starting to learn to home can our harvests [we just can't eat as much fresh as we produce], so we can enjoy in the colder months.
Just thought this might be an interesting topic for those who can relate.

I'm not a gardener, but my 11yo son & father in law have converted 3/4 of an acre in to their little veggie patch, they grow all manner of herbs, Tomato's Corn, Lettus, Pumpkin, water mellon, Garlic, Potatos, and passion fruit. they are at me to convert my old garden truck in to a vegi truck so he can have a road side stall out the front
Like I said I'm not in to gardening but I think its great that my son and father inlaw are doing this together as it's great to see him pass on skills he as to the next generationg and its also great to see there relatonship is so strong0 -
I love gardening. I installed 15 raised beds in my side yard, approximately 45' by 20', a couple years ago. This year I am growing lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, asparagus, peas, green beans, cucumbers, cabbage, rutabaga, carrots, beets and all kinds of herbs. What I can't use fresh I freeze or can.0

We have a large (220 ft by 140 ft.) all-natural garden and sell at farmers' markets. Many organic heirloom varities of tomatoes, sweet corn, peas, beans, squash, pumpkins, peppers, beets, Jerusalem artichokes, hardneck garlic, herbs, cucumbers ( lemon cucumbers especially popular), three colors of cauliflower, various broccoli, greens, lettuces, onions, garlic chives, Jewel strawberries, blackberries, various kinds of melons, potatoes, lagonaria gourds, just off the top of my head. No pesticides or herbicides used. Weeding is done by hand, and the GPS (Garden Protection Squad, consisting of 9 Muscovy ducks) takes care of the bugs. My husband has become good at canning, dehydrating, and freezing.0
