Sometimes I exercise late at night because stuff is keeping me from doing it earlier. That gives me exercise calories to eat. After I eat, I can sometimes still have about 600-700 calories leftover. I don't really have time to digest and eat more and digest before going to bed so which is better, to eat more even though I'm full or just don't worry about eating the extra calories?

Can you just know you're going to exercise and eat some of those calories through out the day? That way you won't have so many to eat after you exercise.

I guesstimate how many calories I'm going to burn that night when I'm working out my food diary. So then I make sure I eat some of my "future" exercise calories during the day. Plus it holds me accountable to work out after work.

I don't know what would be best for you but I'm a night exerciser and I plan my meals WITH exercise calories at the start of the day. I do the same exercises so I know how much I'm going to burn (I'm a runner mainly and the calorie burn varies VERY little). Anyway, using this method I eat my exercise calories before burning them AND it's added motivation to exercise because I've already eaten the calories! If I burn more then expected I have a few extra cals but it's usually so small I can just grab a small snack before bed... and or if I'm over it's usually not by enough to be worried about.

It really works for me because overeating is the one thing I want to avoid above all else. :)

    I do exactly this.

A day is 24 hours... So if you look at the 24 hour period as 1 day you could always make up for those calories at breakfast. =) Or do like the others say and eat a little extra throughout the day when you know you are going to work out.

Well, my problem is I'm never sure how long I'll be doing something. Aside from doing 30 day shred, I have a vauge idea for the evening's exercise like figure skating practice or biking or walking the dogs but I'm never sure how long I will be out or how much energy I'll be putting into it. Like tonight (since it was too late to do anything about it for tonight anyway) after eating all my meals and extra snacks knowing that I would be doing some exercising today I have over 500 calories left. Is it a big deal to just not eat them? I don't know how accurate the calories burned are anyway. Or, I could eat them the next day, correct? Or would that mess things up? I already ate 1700 calories today so it doesn't seem like leaving out those 500 will really hurt me.

I definitely think you could eat the calories the day after! I mean, why not? You don't gain/lose weight in a day anyway... so why couldn't you aim for a weekly calorie goal instead of daily?
