Swimmers!

Hi Swimmers...

i wanted your advice... I have recently got into swimming to tone & loose weight. I'm bottom side heavy & I would like to loose weight mainly on my legs/tummy/thighs/love handles... I only swim breaststroke (I don't like getting my face too wet) but i do it with a kickboard as well as with arms/legs.

I'm worried that I'll get "butch" shoulders - can anyone give me hints/clues how to avoid this - and also any tips to do 2lengths in every 10 where I'm REALLY pushing my body to get my heart rate up?

FYI:

I swim 40-60mins a day & like to go 6days a week. I weigh 139lbs and i'm 5ft 7in.

Thanks in advance guys :)

Given that programme your chances of getting "butch shoulders" are pretty much nil so the easiest advice is not to worry about it.

I'm not sure what kind of tips you want for the 2 hard laps in 10. Just swim hard for those 2 laps. I will say though that it will be very hard for you to truly push yourself without putting your face in the water.
