I have been doing really well. Got a new job beginning of the year and was making more money. I was doing great losing weight. I stumbled a bit since Easter but damage control has kept me from going overboard. I was getting everything back on track and moving forward.

Then when it seemed I was about to get to top of stairs life kicked me right in the gut and sent me flying down the flight to the bottom. I just found out 2 hours ago I am getting laid-off and we all know how wonderful the job market is. Stress doesn't help weight loss and now have to find another IT position before my family loses everything. I have the positive that I can workout more and improve my health. But then all the other thoughts and fears are just starting and maybe they are unfounded. I am good in IT and should find a job, but knowing I have less than a 2 month cushion in savings puts on pressure. Hearing how long it take to get a job now makes me dread losing everything. When I was praying to God that I wanted to lose a lot, this was NOT what I meant. Feel like a failure and want to give up but that will NOT help anything either.

Trying to stay positive.

I'm sorry! For now try and think of resisting your cravings as saving money I guess. I hope you find another job soon.

I just had to quit my job to move with my fiance, and while we are okay for a while, we won't really have a cushion until I get a job. Take it one day at a time. Things could be much worse.

And hey, on a positive note, you can probably save money by not buying many snacks right?

PLEASE do not believe the news!!
the job market is a LOT better than people lead to believe, many industries are not hiring, but lots of others have only slowed a bit and are hiring VERY heavily
  • Girl, you are trusting the right one, stay encouraged; it will get better.

I know how that goes. I was doing great, looked like I was going to get promoted, then bam, out on our bums with less than a day warning. The worst thing you can do is what I do, give it all up, and eat cheap to conserve money. I could have eaten better than the pasta and the other processed cost efficient garbage that I did, I chose not to to penny pinch. Would I do it again? No. I also stopped exercising, got depressed and stayed inside at my computer almost the whole time. Cause that's really good to do when you're depressed. Seesh. Don't give up on eating healthy (or at least not completely horrible), and exercising, even if it means giving up the gym membership, and hitting the sidewalks.

Thanks eating better and saving money by not snacking is very positive. Will help cutting out fast food day and sodium that restaurant love to add. SO going to try to stay positive and nice weather coming up so time to break out mountain bike.

Maybe this is a blessing in disguise because being tethered to a phone for 8 hours sure did not promote weight loss. I am trying to find the positive.
