HRM or other type device?

I see a lot of people posting about HRM's and Fitbit type devices. I'm looking to get something but have some questions. I would like to be able to track my HR and would also like to be able to track my workouts and overall activity level. I'm not necessarily looking for a pedometer type device but just something that will tell me how many calories I'm burning and if I'm exercising in my target heart rate. I'm also looking for something that is easy to use and not so big or bulky. Any suggestions? What do you have and how do you like it?
