HRM or other type device?

I see a lot of people posting about HRM's and Fitbit type devices. I'm looking to get something but have some questions. I would like to be able to track my HR and would also like to be able to track my workouts and overall activity level. I'm not necessarily looking for a pedometer type device but just something that will tell me how many calories I'm burning and if I'm exercising in my target heart rate. I'm also looking for something that is easy to use and not so big or bulky. Any suggestions? What do you have and how do you like it?

I just bought a New Balance N4 - it does everything you just asked for and I love the thing. And it's at a pretty decent price on Amazon0

I want a Fitbit after a lot of research but alas, I cannot afford $100.0 -
I already had a HRM but just wanted a fitbit...so I use both. BTW...I got a fitbit zip on Amazon for 59.99.0

I use both. My Fitbit One is stuck to my hip 24/7 except when I shower. My Polar FT60 is on me when I do my workout. I think use Runtastic Pro when I go walking to get the right calorie burn (it's really almost spot on) and use that when I go running but use the data from my HRM to update it.0

I just bought a Polar FT4 heart rate monitor, and I really like it so far. (I've had it for about 2 days now). I like it because it's nice to know how many calories you're burning (especially when I'm doing workout DVDs at home), or walking my crazy dog.
I also like that you can switch between seeing the total calories you've burned, seeing if you're in the right heart rate zone, and your current heart rate. (It will also beep to tell you if you choose that option, and it also stores your information so you can add it here later). It helps to motivate me because I feel like working out longer when I can see the calories adding up.0
