Marie Curie Cancer Care Swimathon

Hello all
I wasn't sure where to put this but I think it could be used as a motivator so I'm posting here.
Next weekend, I, along with my daughter and 50 other members of our school community (including students, teachers, siblings and parents) will be taking part in the team 1.5K swimathon in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care. We have organised 10 teams in total with the youngest swimmers only 7 years old.
I have previously taken part as an individual, swimming the 5K but thought it would be fun to involve the school and students.
I am SO PROUD of the response we have recieved and for being able to inspire and challenge these children and their families to not only swim but to do raise money for a wonderful charity at the same time
I really hope it helps them to contiue wanting to swim regularly.
The organisation of putting the teams together has been very hard work, especially as I have not experienced the event as part of a team, so it is all new to me in that respect! We are also using a 33m pool - longer than the usual 25m I would swim in but I think on the day everything will (hopefully!) come together and the main thing after all is to have fun!
I am a little nervous for my daughter too - she can swim and is strong on her back but this will be a new experience for her too and I am again so proud that she is taking this risk and willing to have a try
Tonight my team are heading to the pool for a session together in preparation.
The swim takes place next Saturday at 5pm.
Thanks for reading.

Training session went well despite the lifeguard and duty manager not wanting to let my dd swim the whole lengths because she is under 8 year old, even though she is a capable swimmer!! Never heard such a daft thing before. Eventually they agreed and we've been assured it should be ok for the swimathon because that's a 'private event' so the same rules don't apply....0

Well we all survived the swim!
I am SO proud of all the participants, including my daughter who swam 8 lengths in all!
We have raised over £7000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
And hopefully inspired the kiddies to keep swimming0
