Yesterday was a very good day

Well yesterday was a damn good day.
Dr. office visit and review of my first blood work results since late 2011. That 2011 visit was ugly and, truth be told, I did a terrible back slide throughout most of 2012 so God only knows how bad things really hit before I woke up to reality this past December.
In any event, my blood pressure and cholesterol levels are now spotless. Blood sugar has drastically improved. As a result, I'm now clear to drop the BP meds. Waiting for a re-screen on the cholesterol in 3 more months, but when that comes clean (as expected it now will) on the next lab report then I'll be clear to kick the cholesterol meds to the curb as well.
As for the blood sugar, I spent most of 2012 as an "uncontrolled" diabetic. The A1C test from 2011 came in at 8.5 with glucose in the 290's. Being inattentive to my reality in 2012, I now figure that for most of last year the A1C was likely well above 10 and probably drastically higher than that. Glucose, the few times that I took readings in 2012 were in the HIGH 300's - probably even over 400+ I would imagine.
Mortifying.
In any event, after being back on track now for just these past 4 months, the glucose (although still high) is back into the manageable range of 135 and the A1C has now gone down to 6.7.
The plan is to still stay on my BS meds for the immediate future but I totally expect to get that A1C down into the low 5's as I continue this track from here on out. Once I get to that point I'll be getting back into a totally "med-free" lifestyle.
Best NSV for me and my family to date for sure.

Thanks Guys. My motivation for posting this wasn't really for the pats on the back, even as nice as they are.
It's rather that I have found out recently how very helpful it has been for me here on MFP to read other people's stories and of their own incremental success victories.
Reading some of these stories back at the start of the year really helped me process things, for the very first time, that this whole rodeo is not a matter of "rocket surgery" or "brain science".
Instead, it is simply making a commitment to being consistent in the changes to eat more mindfully and to move this body a bit more every day.
Have a great weekend, y'all.0
