Calculating Calories Burned

I'm a bit stumped here. I have no idea how to calculate how many calories I burn during various forms of exercise. I can make an educated guess (I think!), but I really would like to have an accurate accounting.
I've been told that a heart rate monitor would do the trick, but until I invest in one, what is the best way to calculate calories burned?
(I'm thinking about aerobic type exercise)
Any suggestions would be most helpful!

MFP has many exercises in it's database which will calculate calories burned for you. You can also look up online for "calories burned doing ?". There are a lot of sites out there if this one doesn't have what you need. I have found the calories for riding horse, hand washing the car, etc.

I agree with WoodWardtm. It's how I started to log calories burned until I bought a Polar FT7 HRM. Best purchase I ever made!

Just search for them here in MFP. When I do the Just Dance 4 workouts I put them under dance, aerobic etc, when I use the wii fit I can find some of the actual things in there already (rhythm boxing, basic run, but I had to add one or two myself) however I find with the wii fit, when I enter the minutes the calories are sometimes off from what the wii told me so I just change the calories to match. Zumba isn't in there either but I also put that in under dance, aerobic. But the database is pretty extensive you should be able to find almost anything & for items that aren't there & you want to add them yourself just google it ie; "calories burned doing zumba" there is an online calculator for almost everything these days :-)
