Question about strength training!!!! :)

I've been pole dancing for about half a year, going to the gym and hitting the machines and doing some weight exercises on the days that I don't pole dance and cycling or doing some cardio (dance casses/taebo/pilates)
But today I found out that pole dancing is a form of strength training?? Which makes absolute sense because you're constantly doing exercises that require you to hold up your entire body weight. I read somewhere that it's basically the same as doing calisthenics.
Everyone is always talking about how you should do strength two days in a row because muscles need rest.
I pole dance Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (and I can't change that because those are the only classes that fit my schedule,)
so I should not be hitting the weights on Wednesdays or Fridays, right?
(which is what I've been doing, and I saw someone hear say that if you do strength every day you don't give your muscles enough time to heal and therefore you don't get stronger!!! and I need to get stronger to improve at pole so basically I've been hijacking my progress according to this.)
I only have about 15-17 pounds to lose so I mostly want to shape my body, so I need strength training, but if pole dancing is already a form of strength training, how necessary is it that I also do strength training exercises at the gym?
Do you think doing pole three times a week and then doing cardio the other three days would be enough or should I still be doing weight exercises? I enjoy cardio a lot more than I do strength, to be honest.
Please give me your opinions!!! ♥
