What Did It For You?

Hi Everyone,
I am the classic 'diet sheep' - I read a book about the new 'hot' diet and I go for it 100%, with little success.
Vegan. Macrobiotic. Paleo. Atkins. Dukan. No carb. Low carb. High carb. High fat. No fat. High protein. Low protein. Vegetarian. Green Smoothie. Coconut oil. I've done them all....
What works best for me is eating 3 proper meals a day, no snacks and not banning anything.
I would generally eat in a day:
Breakfast: green smoothie (kale/banana/coconut water/chia seeds/avocado/cucumber/mint) or oatmeal (oats, almond milk, chia seeds, berries, banana slices, cinnamon)
Lunch: grilled chicken and avocado slices with salad (no dressing, instead I add herbs to my salad)
Dinner: grilled salmon and steamed green vegetables
When I started eating healthy I found myself constantly eating nuts and not being able to shift weight. I realised they are my 'thing' - my "pringles" so to speak - once you pop you can't stop. Cutting these out (although hard) is essential for my personal diet.
I was wondering if anyone has had these kinds of realisations?

I finally came to realization that cutting anything out of my diet that was inherently bad for me is always going to be a bad idea leading to binges and such.
I prefer to set a calorie goal, set some macro goals, and once the basic requirements are met, eat whatever I want as long as the calorie goal is met for whatever my current goal happens to be.
It's less stressful this way. I am not deprived of my favorite foods. And I am losing body fat.0 -
I try to do everything in moderation. I think if you deprive yourself of something ( a certain food or food group), it will just come back and bite you in the butt. Instead of eating 5 chips, you'll eat the whole darn bag. I've noticed that eating eggs for breakfast and snacking on fruits and veggies and almonds has really helped me. Plus I've kicked up my cardio. Instead of doing a half hour 5 days a week, I now try to do 45-60 min.0

Upping my protein helped tremendously with binge eating in the beginning.
Intermittent fasting seems to be helping me not get hungry as often.
Enjoying my life and the food that comes with it has helped me stick to my weight loss goals.
Trying to find what fits in my macros drives me insane. I'm not eating four filets of tilapia for dinner ever again.0 -

I have tried so many things over the years as well. What is working for me is three meals a day, basically eaten in an 8 hour period. Breakfast than 4 or 5 hours later lunch then 4 or 3 hours later dinner. Sometimes I have a snack between those 3 meals and every once in a great while I will have a really late snack like before I go to bed, but I would have to be ravenous. It doesn't seem to matter what my macros are as long as I get a lot of fiber and eat a lot of non starchy vegetables I don't get hungry very much. Many times it feels like I am forcing myself to eat. The nutritionist I saw says that is ok to feel forced and that it will feel that way when you are eating nutrient dense foods ie very little sugar or processed foods.0
