Kcal = kilocalorie. When you see a label saying something has 100 calories, it actually has 100,000 calories. Only scientists use actual calories, for diet/exercise purposes 1kcal is called a calorie.

KCals are kilocals (1000 calories of energy), what is normally referred to as a calorie of food. So 100 calories of food is really 100,000 calorie units of energy. It just makes the numbers easier to work with I guess.

    From wiki:
the small calorie or gram calorie (symbol: cal) which is the approximate amount of energy needed to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree Celsius;[1]
large calorie, kilogram calorie, dietary calorie, nutritionist's calorie or food calorie (symbol: Cal), equal to 1000 small calories.[1]
