Never Been to a Gym

So I am thinking about joining a gym. I figure if I pay for a membership I'll be more motivated to workout, but I have never been to one and have no clue what I would do when I got there. I want to tone and probably work on my stomach a little. Not really trying to lose weight because I am a good weight for my height.

I enjoy taking the classes at the gym. They are actually a lot of fun and have taught me some exercises to do on my on. I especially recommend taking a boxing/ kick boxing class if you want a fun way to tone up your legs and abs.

Love the gym. Having a membership has been a big help with being motivated to work out.

gyms make all their money collecting dues from members that never show up. that's because motivation doesn't magically appear once you add a membership card to your wallet.

i suggest you go read the book New Rules of Lifting for Women. After that, decide on a workout plan and pick an appropriate gym for your needs. Then join a gym.

I personally am a cheap skate and will not pay to go to a gym. Besides, anybody who instructs me should have a better body and be more fit than I am (which is hard to come by). With that being said, I make use of outdoor trails, hand weights, push ups and sit ups. y husband also installed a punching bag in the garage that also helps with toning.

I am a total convert to a "home" gym!

    ^^^THIS^^^

Motivation comes from within, not from a monthly bill.

I'll have to look into kickboxing.
