Hip bursitis ???

So, back in January, I went to a hip specialist (I should have gone to a sports med. dr., oops!), and he said that I had hip bursitis and that I should "rest." I wanted to say to him, dude, do you see me...I don't need to rest. So with the help of ice, and my super awesome massage therapist (my mom) we got everything under control and I was able to train for a 10k. I was seeing my mom weekly for a month, and then moved to every 2 weeks. Well...our schedules didn't mesh for a while, and I wasn't able to see her for about 1 1/2 months before the race. By the time the race showed up, I was having trouble again. I was smart this time and didn't push myself during the race so that I really hurt myself.

So here's my question. Is this something that I'll still be living with after I lose weight (I have about 70lbs to lose), or will it go away? Anyone deal with this before?

    I Have Mild Hip Bursitis Following A Bad Fall From A Horse. I See A ChiropractOr As Needed To Help. I Have Not Noticed As Much Pain Since I Have Lost Weight. However, I Had To See A Physical Therapist For My Knee And She Addressed My Hip At The Same Time Which Helped A Lot. Are You Able To Try Therapy?

    I probably could try therapy...though I'm sure I'd need to see a dr. first. I've thought about a chiropractor, but am secretly scared of them :) That whole neck cracking thing gives me the chills. lol I do know that the muscles in that area are very tight right now, and so my mom is working on getting them stretched out and work out the trigger points. I guess I'm hoping for a light at the end of the tunnel. I just LOVE running, and would like to not have to worry about this later.

    You Could Also Try Foam Rolling. ThatAlso Helps When My Hips Are Tight. You Should Be Able To Get A Roller For About $20.

    Since it's due to pressure, then reduction of upper body weight would help. You'd have to find out if yours is chronic or not though.

    That's what I'm hoping for...that with less weight, I won't have to deal with it. I do have a roller that I use in-between massages. Well...I guess I'll just have to keep getting massages. I know, horrible! :wink:

    Hi, I am suffering from hip bursitis now and would appreciate any feedback. It is sharp pain preventing me from sleeping. I have seen a chiropractor twice and see him again Monday. No pain relief as of yet. Suffering on and off since March. Thank you
