How would one know if the drinks have been GMOd? Is there a label or a certain ingredient that indicates that they have added GMOs to it?0

well, since genetic modification involves the mutation, insertion, or deletion of genes, you pretty much know what foods are not "natural" like crackers and Canned soups, candy ect.....non GMO should be labeled Non-GMO or USDA Organic.0

So crackers and canned soups all have GMOs in them?0

WOW...a little knowledge can be soooo dangerous......:noway:0 -
If you read a label, for processed foods anything with: Soy, Corn, Canola, Cottonseed, and Sugar Beet ( if the label says "sugar" it is from sugar beet--otherwise it is labeled can sugar) are genetically modified. Any derivitive of soy, or corn is also GMO ( soy protein isolate, found in many "healthy" protein drinks).
It's a lot to take in when you first become aware! what is a GMO? It is a seed that has a foreign gene inserted. It is considered genetically modified because this it is not something that happens in nature. There are no long term safety studies on GMO's. And what research there is is pretty conclusive that they do more harm than good to humans, animals, bees and the environment.
Here is a great, and trustworthy site that has non-gmo verified lists of products. It is continuously updated, and is great especially when you first decide to dive into your pantry and start eliminating GMO's you find there!

It can be mind blowing when you realize that the vast vast majority of foods out there contain GMO's... I tried to buy a box of cereal at Target (yes, I know it is not the best choice but its what I had at the time) and out of the entire full shelves of cereal there was only ONE box of cereal that was non GMO. Post Grape Nuts. Not Kashi anything, those are all GMO's.
I have an app, it's not perfect, but it is easy. You simply scan the bar code of any product and it will tell you if it has GMO's, has a likelyhood of GMO's, or is certified GMO free.
It is called Fooducate and I have it on my iphone. I love it! We are making some serious changes to what we eat and the app has been very helpful in that regard!0 -
Grape nuts contain isolated soy protein ( more than likely GMO!).....Soy is very iffy unless iverified as non-gmo.
I use the fooducate app as well, though most of the products I use aren't in the database yet. I find that I get frustrated if i have to enter more than one product per shopping trip! But hopefully the new version will be better!0 -
