Hi there with my first pregnancy i was 15 stones when i found out i was pregnant. I started swimming four times a week and it was great, i could feel him moving inside me.

I gained 12 lbs in total and lost it as soon as i had the baby and started breastfeeding.

There is nothing u can do to stop the weight gain as baby will grow and water will be retained....just be healthy and exercise moderately and enjoy indulging, put it down to cravings.

congrats on your pregnancy!! i didnt like pregnancy first time but second time it was lovely.....

You should not diet when pregnant. Just eat healthy, lots of whole natural foods, fruit and veg... exercise moderately... walking, swimming is great. I did yoga when I was pregnant and that really helped with the backache you're bound to get !
Save the dieting for after the baby is born :-)

Ah ok, you need to speak to your mid wife/ doctor about exercise if you haven't already been doing it now isn't the time to start unless your talking gentle swimming or walking, as for eating plenty of fresh unprocessed food to give your little one a healthy start in life

There's nothing wrong with eating healthier and making good choices while you're pregnant :) Definitely no fad diets or fasting, etc. (Which you really shouldn't do anyway... lol) Don't start any strenuous exercising while pregnant, but you can of course do normal everyday things that you've been doing all along.

If you're making good choices and staying active, you'll probably find that your weight is maintaining or dropping a little bit during the first trimester anyway. Like the others said though- it's definitely something to talk to about with your doctors. They can give you an idea of how many calories you should be taking in while pregnant, or maybe even set you up with a nutritionist.

You should probably ask a professional for healthy eating advice throughout your pregnancy.

you shouldn't be doing anything new without talking to your DR or obgyn. This isn't the time to start losing weight, Give it 9 months.

    - see your doctor as soon as possible - pre-natal care is important.
    - take up walking for your exercise, if you're not currently doing any. Ask your doctor before taking on anything higher impact

    - get this book - it's well written, and well recognized as good advice on how to eat while pregnant.

Being a young mother is going to be hard enough on you, I would not worry about still trying to lose weight while you're pregnant...which is kind of working backwards, but I digress. Eat healthy things. More fruit and veg, less junk. Don't use being pregnant as an excuse to gobble up whatever you want and however much of it as you want. That leads to putting on a lot more weight than necessary. Talk to your doctor about a plan that will teach you how to eat healthy and eat for two at the same time. Good luck.

If you've been active and exercising before you got pregnant, you can continue to do so throughout your pregnancy with a few restrictions. There are certain weight lifting and aerobics you shouldn't do while pregnant but a lot of exercises have modifications for pregnant women. Now is not the time to start exercising though unless it's really easy like walking or swimming or water aerobics...low impact kinda stuff. And don't expect to really LOSE during pregnancy. You can, however, minimize the gain and still be healthy and have a healthy baby. Baby will take what he/she needs first and leave the rest for you so make sure you're not cutting yourself short on nutrition for the sake of not gaining weight. I'd suggest seeing a dietician and maybe a personal trainer once you get the ok from your doctor. They should have some great recommendations for you.

A friend of mine lost 20lbs while pregnant, though she was quite big to begin with. Always talk to your doctor before making any changes though.

My friend actually lost weight while being preggers because she ate as healthy as possible and was more active FOR the baby. Just do things that are best for your pregnancy, cutting out soda eating fruits and veggies, and see where it goes. But do not get upset when you see the lbs going up. There's a little one growing inside you :D

If you choose to breastfeed that is another thing as well, you need to talk to your professional about how many calories need to be consumed while doing that as it is higher during this time, do not eat for two and gain a ton of weight you have to lose later by going overboard with the cravings / indulging but is definately not a good time to worry about losing weight, health and wellness is whats important for you and baby. The number 1 thing is to keep your stress level as low as possible, perhaps take up meditation:-)
