I think you should concentrate on eating healthy and not on losing weight but ask your doctor. Congratulations!
Oh and ETA:...I'm not pregnant. lol.0 -
If you want to lose weight while pregnant, you should always consult your doctor.
Personally I would focus on eating healthier, rather than losing weight.0 -
I would stick to heating healthy and doing normal activities/exercise for as long as your doctor oks it...no matter what you will gain weight during pregnancy and the is OK its suppose to happen. Keeping yourself fit and heathy is good for both you and the baby and can prevent a lot of medical problems and help labor go easier Congrats! I am currently 32 weeks pregnant with my 3rd. Make sure to eat good healthy fats and lean protien...it helps baby.0

Many women lose weight fairly easily after giving birth, while breastfeeding. I do not think it is a good idea to try to lose weight while growing the bones, muscles and brain of another human being inside of you. But what do I know, I am not a doctor.0

I would just focus on getting the proper nutrients you need for yourself and baby. Light-to-moderate exercise should be ok unless you have some other health issue to consider. You're pregnant, you will gain weight. Not really any way around that. Try to avoid the "eating for two" mentality and make healthy choices. Enjoy being pregnant. It's quite the experience0

I'd suggest speaking to your doctor about this and see what he/she says But if you are simply trying to eat healthier, better portion control, and increasing some light activity, then I don't see why this would be an issue! Obviously using measurements to track your progress might not be as accurate though lol :P Some people can gain a lot during pregnancy, if you are simply focused on making better choices to help you eventually get to your goal, then there shouldn't be an issue
Also there's pregnancy websites out there with safe exercises to do while pregnant. So talk to your doctor and do some research As long as it's safe, then why not?0 -
my first pregnancy i was about 40 lbs overweight. i gained 29. not too bad i think. but my dr told me to walk every day. so hubs and i walked the dogs about an hr a night. helped with the birth. that being said, i lost the most after with nursing and still walking and added weights.nursing took all the weight off of my body fairly quickly. good luck! stay away from sugar and you will be fine. ask your dr what is best these days. this was 20 yrs ago!0

I am not an expert, but I have had 2 babies LOL
If you eat at TDEE for the first 6 months, then an extra 500 cals for last trimester, if you are overweight now, you should lose a bit of weight. If morning sickness kicks in, you might lose some weight (but that is NOT FUN!)
Swimming and walking are great exercises. Breastfeeding is great for getting your tummy back down afterwards.
And just while you're reading this- DO YOUR KEGELS!! Put a post-it on your kettle or fridge or computor monitor, wherever u will see it. Honestly it can't be emphasised enough! All the best0 -
Congrats! I've never been pregnant myself but I've heard that you shouldn't try to lose too much while you're pregnant but if you eat healthy during your pregnancy it'll be a lot easier to lose your baby weight and any more after you give birth.0

The best thing to do is speak with your Dr. first. I never gained any with my first child and everything was fine. Although the Dr.'s questioned why I wasn't gaining. I have to say I don't know, I ate whatever I wanted. However I was nauseous for 3 months and I couldn't stand the smell of meat, soooooo. Congratulations and good luck!0

Go for a walk every day, do your pelvic floor exercises and just do not eat any rubbish. Stick to eating lots of fruit veggies and non-processed food.
You won't need to lose weight - just don't put any excess weight on.
You will find that the healthier you are now, the easier the weight loss will be afterwards because you won't have got into any bad eating patterns.
Good luck0 -
Congratulations on your pregnancy. Lots of good advice here. Don't try to lose, just maintain and gain reasonable amounts in late pregnancy while being healthy. Here's a group I found a little while ago when I got a false positive or had a very early miscarriage: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/1903-fit-fabulous-pregnant.0

Talk to your doctor for sure.. For SOME women it can be healthy for mom and baby to lose a very modest amount of weight during pregnancy. BUT only if you are above a certain BMI, and you do so under the guidance of a doctor/RD.0

Congrats!!! Soo happy for you !! It's the best thing that will ever happen to you !! Enjoy !! I have 3 beautiful babies! With all 3 of them I lost about 10lbs in the first 3 months simply because I was suddenly eating soo much better (for them). I DID NOT diet, I was just making sure I ate good stuff... veggies, etc. I also only gained 25 lbs for the same reason. And I agree with the other post breastfeeding really helps you lose it all again! I lost every pound with my first in 3 Weeks, my second in 6 Weeks ( he was 10lbs) and my third in 1 week! (yes I said 1 week) I breastfed all 3. I think exercise is good all long as it's mellow. I wish you all the best! :flowerforyou:0

i wouldnt activley be trying to lose weight, however, if your eating a balanced diet, taking in about 2500 cals a day, and daily light to light / moderate exercise, i dont see why you wouldnt drop some of the excess fat you have, while still gaining baby weight. you wouldnt notice a difference really on the scale, since you would be swapping it out for baby weight, however, you would feel or maybe see a small difference. ive had 5 kid, naturally, and with the first 3, i gained, BIG TIME, with the second two, i pretty much swapped even, however, my dr was pleased because i was intaking proper cals and nutrition, and only losing excess fat. be careful, baby only get their goods from you, if you dont have enough, they dont get enough!0

One thing about exercise is if you haven't been doing it BEFORE you were pregnant don't start while you are pregnant, it just isn't the time to start putting extra stress and strain on your body.0
