Cafe Rio is easily my favorite restaurant. However, their meals are by no means low cal. Soooooo, I make some sacrifices. Whenever I go (and I go at least once a week, sometimes more) I order a salad:
Meat (100-130 cals per 2 oz, so I assume they give me 4 oz)
NO tortilla 130 cals)
NO beans (150 cals)
NO cheese (30 cals)
NO chip strips (150 cals)
Lettuce (5 cals)
Extra Pico (5 cals)
Extra Fresca (20 cals)
Guacamole (90 cals)
NO dressing (130 cals per 1.5oz)
The first few times I ordered this way, I felt dumb and a little weird, but now I love it because I still feel stuffed by time I'm finished, but have only consumed roughly 300 to 500 calories for my entire dinner (sometimes I order extra meat). This is a HUGE difference compared to what the salad could be- you do the math (1,380 for everything). So now I never feel guilty when I eat at Cafe Rio! Not to mention I get a pretty nutritious dinner- protein and veggies!
Need proof? Here's their nutritional info link:

Bottom line is- don't be afraid to modify your favorite meals when you go out to eat, or plan ahead and look up their nutritional info and make a decision on what you'll order before you leave the house.
