Good fats

I recently saw a recipe posted on facebook by a nutritionist from a gym I used to go to. The recipe was for "healthy hedgehog slice". These are the ingredients:
2 cups crumbled walnuts
1/2 cup desiccated coconut, plus extra for topping
1/4 cup raw cacao powder
5 tbsp coconut oil
1/2 cup raw honey
As my goal is to lose weight, I thought that this slice would overall have too much fat and calories (even though it's good fats). I commented this and was then lectured about good fats. I never avoid good fats in my diet, but I do think that there should be a limit when trying to lose weight. What does everybody think about this?

Dietary fat does not equal body fat. No reason to limit healthy fat, unless it puts you over your calorie limits, or cuts too far into your protein intake.0

Like just about everything else, it's a matter of moderation. A serving size of that recipe would probably be a fairly small amount. That being said, I get about 30%-35% of my diet from fat, which works out to around 70-80 grams per day, which I try to get mostly from good fats like nuts, avocado, olive oil, etc. Hasn't caused me any problems, weightloss wise!0

It depends on the person. In general, one shouldn't be afraid of good fats. However, if you're someone that needs to seriously slash calories to lose, and it's not simply a matter of perfectly balanced macro-nutrients, you may want to consider a moderate amount of fat vs. a higher amount. Hope that made sense.0

Yes I agree with you on limits. If it puts me over on the amount of calories that I want to eat then it would be too much. It is always possible to get too much of a good thing.0

I try to stick to my macros so no I wouldn't eat that. Plus it probably has a lot of calories for a small amount...0
