motivation and help please

I don’t know where to start at the moment I have am feeling very lost and unmotivated to do anything. I have some really good days and then really bad days. I haven’t logged any food for ages and not done any exercise since last Tuesday. I went to the doctors to help with my personal problems but I think talking about them has made me worse. Has anyone else felt the same? How have they overcome their problems?

    I have felt this way too. Mine all started to get better after identifying and talking about my problems. After that, I was put on some depression medication, and I started walking… (It was nice to just get outside and look around in the nice weather) Then, I began using an elliptical and walking…. I just kept adding another piece to the puzzle. I am by no means up to par where I want to be but it is a work in progress. (And by the way, off the depression medicine now) Exercise has really helped me. Good Luck!

    Yeah I am in tablets again, it's a good idea instead of trying to do it all at once maybe start over again with little steps and let it build up.

    While it's hard to get a complete picture, it sounds like you're suffering from depression. If you've been prescribed antidepressants, these will take a few weeks before they kick in, and its very important that you revisit your doctor if you find they have no effect for you. Prescribing for depression is not an exact science and it may require a bit of trial and error.

    Its important at this stage to appreciate that this depression is now a medical condition. Treat that first, and then you can start to deal with the emotional and psychological problems better (ie. begin to talk about it). Leaping into this stage of recovery too soon can be detrimental.

    Your diet is probably the least of your problems right now. Concentrate purely on being healthy and try to avoid alcohol. If the mood takes you, do try and get some exercise, even if its just a 10 minute walk.
